Incriminating photo's have showed up on Facebook.  These pics were shown on a forum members page.  He wasn't shown in any of them, but one has to wonder how/why they got tagged to his page.  I have met the member personally and don't want to think that he was involved.  Hopefully it was NOT him but someone related perhaps.  Either way I think he owes an explanation to those of us that have worked very hard over the years to maintain Pirates Island for the enjoyment of ALL lake users.

I am NOT a heavy facebook user.  I have a page, but rarely visit. I am certainly no expert on how pages and pics are linked, but the pics showed up, several forum folks emailed me with links to the incriminating photos.  Funny thing is, the link was dead!?!?!  However, one member did email me enough pics that I could positively identify one of the my Pirate buddies on the boat.

You know who you are.  Is an explanation forthcoming?  Do I have to call you out in public?

Hang the culprit by the yardarm, then make him/her walk the plank in the post Aquapollution waters right in front of the stage by the VIP barge, as he/she will not have far to walk - LOL. Then if that does not make him/her talk -- turn them over to LG and SL or the eggheads I know they will get to the bottom of it come hell or high waters/beer !!!! I know a lot of hard work and pride goes into maintaining the Pirates, etc. and think this is an act of treason. So somebody needs to come clean and fess up to this atrocity before the incriminating photos are posted on the this forum as I after Lifers post I did a little investigative reporting on Facebook and have located the photo evidence for which Lifer speaks of. And just as an FYI- Per Google the punishment for theft back in the 1700s (days of the pirates) was public execution.

All that sounds great to me!!!  But I would be happy if they just returned the pirates back to the island.  They were exiled there due to their inabillity to conform to societal norms.  They may even be dangerous!!!

I saw that Pirates Island has been redone.  Was that you?  If so thanks, and if not be sure to check it out.  I still have the last pirate and lots of 'bling' for the treasure chest.  Shoot me an email and I will give you my number so we can get together.  I certainly cant climb up anymore but would love to see Pirate Pete hanging around the island.

I will try my best.  Still have health issues.Still got the wound vac in the belly.  I got a kick outta reading the posts about the flesh eating bacteria while I am fighting one.,,lol.  I actually saw you fly by us two week ago.  We were beached on the middle Island between Young's and Wood's.  you had a load of bow bunnies and were headed somewhere.  I grabbed my phone and then realized I don't have your number.

Let me know time and place of the meeting, I wll do my best to be there.

Wait till we get Pete the pirate back on the island for the new pics.  Maybe Walter will come through this weekend.  I also have to get a new flag on Flag Island.  I am too incapacitated to do it myself this year. One of the 'hood rats will have to stand in for me.  Hopefully can get that done this weekend too.

No, those pirates are gone by way of a petty, low-life, scum sucking thief!!

Pirate Pete has wintered in my garage but is ready to retire to Pirate Island.

I've been on the lake 3 seasons now.  I'm still amazed at the places I don't know.  Until the thread below I had never heard of pirates Island.  So I thought I would start of a thread of some of the cool places to visit on the lake for those of us who haven't found them all yet. Below are some of the spots we regularly stop at.

Big Beach
Peanut Point
Rope Swing
Chimney Rock (I know it's really acapulco rock)
Chucks
Sinclairs

any other fun spots to stop and have a cold beverage?

I like McGill's....enjoying the spot right now with wings and sausage cooking on the BGE. We love company, but If you come at 7am don't wake me up.  As for other favorite spots, there are many. Mine are where I can hang out with friends (new and old) all over the lake.

Too many to list here but if you check out the map feature Bruce has provided for us most of the best spots are noted with GPS coordinates to boot.  If you know Big Beach you should be able to find Pirates Island, it isn't very far away.  Good luck and happy boating.

I will shoot an email to Bruce to see what happened to that feature.  But if you head from DARe Power park due west it will be the third island on the right with the pirates hangin out on the westernmost side.  Or you can triangulate DARe park, Madwind ramp, and Young's Island and find it on any map.  It wont be labeled on your map however. It has no official name.

Update.
I went to the maps page and entered islands in the search bar and it pops right up.  Hope this helps.

is the moment when you will be surprised.

770 miles of shoreline, no one person knows it all.  That's why it's fun to swap spots with friends.  It's also one of the funnest parts of my job. I can't tell you how many times I have happened upon a "hidden" cove that I never realized existed.

These may be considered already known, as I don't think they're necessarily hidden, but:

Billygoat Island
Sand Island

We pass Sand Island going from our place in Parker Creek to just about anywhere else on the lake.  I've always been concerned that someone who isn't familiar with the lake might run aground and/or hit the pine treewhile boating at night.  I know, if they aren't familiar they shouldn't be on the water, but you can't do anything about fools.

The other evening when returning from Sinclairs (is it my imagination or have they hiked their prices?), I noticed that someone has placed a small solar-powered light in the tree, thus increasing its visibilty.  My hat is off to that person or company.

Yea, I've thought about that a few times myself...but, in the long run, all you can really do is watch out for yourself against people like that.  Glad they marked it, though.
